Software company Ambue is transforming the retrofit sector by combining cutting-edge technology, practical delivery and sector-wide collaboration. Its platform integrates LiDAR (light detection and ranging) scans, 3D digital twins and building information modelling to automate the energy, carbon and geometric analyses that support the production of retrofit co-ordination reports and architectural design specifications – reducing time, cost and disruption. Contractors can use Ambue’s LiDAR scans, for example, to onboard their supply chain, digitally ‘walk’ homes or revisit problem areas without having to disrupt residents.

Ambue’s platform supports more than 1,000 property surveys annually and has helped upgrade 1,500 homes to Energy Performance Certificate Band C under the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 2.1, with 5,000 more planned under Wave 3.

Beyond its technology, Ambue actively collaborates across the sector to deliver cutting-edge research projects with transformational potential, such as its work with London Councils and the National Retrofit Hub to define useable archetypes to enhance the delivery of retrofit at scale. Ambue also shares its knowledge widely to advance the scale and pace of retrofit delivery and drive adoption of best practices across the retrofit sector.
