Campaign organisers Low Carbon Homes have created RAW to galvanise local action around the urgent need for home upgrades across the region to create better homes for residents, while helping the Combined Authority to meet its ambitious targets for energy use reduction.

880,000 homes need to be upgraded with retrofitted energy efficiency improvements by 2038 to hit the GMCA carbon neutral target, to secure environmental and health benefits and to deliver the Local Industrial Strategy. Fifteen years of retrofit delivery ahead of us requires an urgent, unwavering and collaborative long sprint to 2038.

Focused on scaling up retrofit delivery at-speed, Retrofit Action Week provides opportunities for local organisations and individuals to come together, learn and be inspired by activities and events organised across the region by a wide-range of contributors, including community and climate action groups, industry organisations and professionals in the retrofit industry.

Organisations are invited to stage their own retrofit-related activity during the week and be listed as one of the many contributors who will be planning contractor training sessions, hands-on DIY workshops and retrofit project site visits.

Individuals with a personal or professional interest in playing their part can participate in a range of activities which will be curated and co-ordinated by Low Carbon Homes.  The week kicks off with the 4th Manchester Retrofit Summit on 9-11 October and culminates in The Home Upgrade Show at Manchester’s Victoria Baths on the 13th and 14th of October, which brings industry professionals, suppliers and service providers together with property owners – across all tenures - to create an unmissable gathering of those across Greater Manchester ready and willing to play their part in decarbonising and improving local homes.
