The Retrofit Academy have been named as the winner of the Skills and Training Category at the first Unlock Net Zero Live Awards.
Announced at a ceremony held at Housing 2023 and hosted by Unlock Net Zero ambassador Kunle Barker, this category recognised that we need new skills to deliver the net zero transition in the housing sector and sought to put the spotlight on those organisations that are training and planning to upskill the workforce of today and attract the workforce of tomorrow that will make the net zero transition happen. The category highlighted those organisations investing in talent development to help organisations, residents and supply chains adapt and deliver a lower carbon focused workforce. Entrants were required to demonstrate their approach, evaluation and practical implementation of improving training and skills development in the green agenda.
Speaking of The Retrofit Academy, the judges citation said:
"We were impressed with the Retrofit Academy’s comprehensive support package to help a full range of retrofit professionals. They have clearly demonstrated their ability to reach and support a full range of parties involved in retrofit and give organisations the skills and confidence to do this work."
Highly commended in this category were the South West Construction Advisory Panel. The judges said of their entry:
"We loved that the South West Green Construction Advisory Panel are supporting both people already involved in retrofit today, but are also addressing the skills shortage by engaging the next generation and tying this into the curriculum."
