Aberdeen communities receive over £660k in grants from Vattenfall's Unlock Our Future Fund

Over the last five years Vattenfall and Foundation Scotland’s Unlock Our Future Fund has awarded a total of £662,526 to 68 successful projects, demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering a climate-smart future.

Energy efficiency measures, heat pumps, and renewable energy projects are amongst the measures that have been funded

The fund has supported projects across the community including helping organisations to install energy efficiency measures and heat pumps, and empowering local groups with the knowledge and tools to develop their renewable energy projects. 

Since its inception in 2019, the fund has been promoting sustainability and community development across the region. With an annual contribution from the Vattenfall’s offshore wind farm in Aberdeen, the fund has provided vital support to a variety of projects that align with its core priorities. 

The primary aim is to back charitable activities that address climate change, enhance community facilities, and support creative, sustainable solutions. It has played an important role in supporting community-led initiatives that drive sustainability and economic growth, reinforcing the importance of renewable energy investments.

By supporting projects that reduce carbon emissions and enhance sustainability, the fund not only contributes to local community development it also underscores the benefits of offshore wind power and working for fossil-free living.
